The SEC got seven teams into the NCAA Tournament bracket, but it was very nearly eight.

Alabama was one of the first four teams out of the tourney, and that made the Crimson Tide a No. 1 seed in this year’s NIT. The Tide will be joined in the bracket by one other SEC squad — Arkansas.

Alabama will host No. 8 seed Norfolk State on March 20 at 7 p.m. Eastern time. Arkansas is a No. 5 seed and will play at No. 4 seed Providence on March 19 at 9 p.m. Eastern time.

Meanwhile, the South Carolina Gamecocks didn’t make the field of 32 NIT squads, so their season has officially come to an end.

You can see the full NIT bracket here. Keep an eye on a potential matchup between Alabama and Dayton (coached by former Alabama coach Anthony Grant) in the second round.
