It might be football season down in Tuscaloosa, but the Alabama Crimson Tide basketball program is still hitting the recruiting trail hard ahead of their season opener in a couple of months.
The Tide have become a national powerhouse under the leadership of head coach Nate Oats, and that success continues to draw a number of top prospects to the program every year as a result.
The latest massive recruiting victory that Oats and Bama have pulled off is the commitment of elite 4-star small forward Chris Washington Jr., who announced his commitment to the Tide on Monday morning, according to On3’s Joe Tipton.
The 6’8 wing chose Alabama over several other big-name programs, including the Tennessee Volunteers, Auburn Tigers, and Ole Miss Rebels, and is the first commit for the Tide in the 2026 recruiting cycle.
If there is one thing Oats and his staff have shown they excel at doing on the hardwood, it’s developing elite forwards into top-10 NBA draft selections, and this is clearly what drew Washington to Alabama.
With their first commitment in the 2026 cycle now secured, Oats and the rest of the Alabama coaching staff will now turn their attention to the number of other highly touted high school seniors on their board that have yet to make a college decision.
