Alabama commit, SEC targets invited to ‘The Opening’ finals

Nike’s “The Opening” competition camp hosted its latest regional installment Sunday in New Orleans. At every stop, Nike invites the standout performers to compete at the apparel giant’s Beaverton, Ore. headquarters in July.

One Alabama commit and some uncommitted SEC targets were among the invitees from New Orleans:

  • Four-star RB Cam Akers of Clinton, Miss. (Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Vanderbilt offers)
  • Four-star WR Devonta Smith of Amite, La. (Recently visited LSU and named Alabama in top-3)
  • Four-star S Todd Harris of Plaquemine, La. (LSU lean)
  • Four-star OT Alex Leatherwood of Washington, Fla. (Alabama commit)
  • OT Nick Brahms of Navarre, Fla. (Mississippi State, Tennessee and Vanderbilt offers)

Three-star QB Taylor Powell of Fayetteville, Ark., a Vanderbilt lean, was named his position’s MVP at the camp.
