Alabama fans are as passionate and demanding a fan base as you can find in college football, and when things aren’t going well in the biggest of spots, it can get ugly.

And on New Year’s Day at the Rose Bowl, it got ugly quickly for the Crimson Tide, who were getting beat down by top-seeded Indiana in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. A roller-coaster season with high expectations that included an 8-game winning streak but also included 3 losses was crashing to its end before the 4th quarter even arrived.

A 17-0 Hoosiers halftime lead became 24-0 midway through the 3rd quarter, and it was becoming clear that Alabama would not be heading to the semifinals next week. Bama finally got on the scoreboard later in the period with a measly field goal, making it 24-3, and by that time social media was flaming with red-hot takes on Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer.

Naturally, those takes were not kind, to say the least, as that demanding Alabama fan base was engulfed in anger over the Crimson Tide’s performance and, more so, DeBoer’s performance in such a big game. By the time Indiana made the score 38-3 with 10:33 left in the game, the Hoosiers had over 200 yards rushing while Alabama had just 161 total yards.

Yeah, it was that bad on the stat sheet, and it was getting really bad for DeBoer on social media, too.

Here is just a sampling of the anger that Tide fans were feeling as it was all coming to an end on New Year’s Day:
