The last we saw of Alabama LB Shaun Dion Hamilton, he was being helped off the field during the SEC Championship Game after tearing his ACL.
However, he’s back practicing with the team and is expected to be ready for the Crimson Tide’s Week 1 matchup against Florida State.
According to 247Sports, Hamilton feels fully recovered and is expecting big things from himself as his senior season kicks off on Saturday:
“I feel good, better than ever,” Hamilton said. “I’m just excited to get back on the field in an actual game. I’m ready to go.”
He said the season snuck up on him this year as he fought to rehab his knee in time, but added that he can’t wait to get on the field against the Seminoles:
“It didn’t hit me until Saturday when I realized we play a week from now,” Hamilton said. “I’m pretty excited, I know our team is excited. We need to have a good week of practice this week.”
Hamilton recorded 64 tackles, two sacks and two interceptions in 12 games last year.
The Crimson Tide will open the 2017 season against Florida State in Atlanta on Saturday, Sept. 2. The game kicks off at 8 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on ABC.
