Alabama P Grayson Hitt, top-50 MLB Draft prospect, to miss rest of 2023 season due to injury

Alabama will be without a top arm for the rest of 2023.
Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball shared Thursday that Crimson Tide LHP Grayson Hitt has an elbow injury that requires Tommy John surgery.

Hitt last pitched on April 8 against Mississippi State. He posted a line of 6 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 4 BB, 9 K over 96 pitches. Hitt has a 4.19 ERA over 38.2 IP for the season with opponents batting .206. As a sophomore, Hitt posted a 5.34 ERA in 60.2 IP over 14 appearances.
The Crimson Tide are 26-12 on the year and 6-9 in conference play (4th place in the SEC West). UA is on the road for a Friday-Sunday 3-game series against Mizzou this weekend.
Alabama’s rotation for this weekend’s series features RHP Luke Holman, RHP Garrett McMillan and RHP Jacob McNairy. McMillan and McNairy are coming off strong starts in this past weekend’s series win over Auburn.
The series begins at 6 p.m. CT/7 p.m. ET Friday, streaming on SEC Network+.
