Standout Alabama linebacker Deontae Lawson will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a ‘significant’ leg injury against Oklahoma.
Defensive coordinator Kane Wommack told reporters on Monday that Lawson “won’t be with us this week.”
Wommack on Deontae Lawson’s status: “He won’t be with us this week, and I’ll let Coach handle it from that point.”
All but confirms the reports that Lawson will miss the remainder of the season.

Wommack didn’t outright say it (only that he’d miss this week), but the above comments mixed with the below report from Pete Thamel pretty much paints the picture. Lawson’s season with the Tide has come to a close.

Lawson finishes his junior campaign with 76 total tackles (36 solo) with 4 pass deflections, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception. He had some success getting to the quarterback too, tallying 2 sacks.
Alabama’s 2024 season has been an underwhelming one, but it’s also the first year for head coach Kalen DeBoer. Still, losses to Oklahoma and Vanderbilt were not exactly on the radar for Tide fans at the start of the year.
The Tide wrap up their schedule with the Iron Bowl this Saturday. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. on ABC.
