The entire Alabama team felt the embarrassment of losing to previously unranked Florida State in Week 1. However, safety Bray Hubbard especially came under fire for his perceived lack of effort in the defeat.

There was a viral clip of the 6-foot-2 junior casually jogging during the loss to the Seminoles and he couldn’t escape the reaction when he got off the field.

“You ever poured gas on a fire? Like that,” Hubbard compared it to. “My phone was blowing up…”

Hubbard added that the shame fueled him leading up to last week before Alabama blanked UL Monroe 73-0 to get back on track.

“I took it personally. It’s on me,” Hubbard said. “The coaches see it, I saw it. It’s obvious. I’ve gotta take it on myself.”

Since joining the Crimson Tide in 2023, the Mississippi native has amassed 66 total tackles, 3 interceptions, a forced fumble, and 2 pass breakups. Hubbard arrived in Tuscaloosa as the No. 7 prospect from Mississippi and the nation’s No. 32 ATH, according to 247Sports.

Next up for Hubbard and No. 19 Alabama is a home contest vs. 2-0 Wisconsin. Kickoff from Bryant-Denny Stadium is slated for 12 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on ABC.
