It’s another season, and may be another star in the making for the Alabama defense. In this case, freshman outside LB Will Anderson has received high marks.
“Alabama sources continue to rave about freshman outside linebacker Will Anderson,” Matt Zenitz of AL.com reported. “Has been a disruptive presence and consistent standout throughout fall camp, even when matched up against Alabama’s first-team offensive line.”
Anderson was among a host of freshmen that coach Nick Saban recently appeared to be pleased with so far in training camp.
“They’re still working through understanding exactly what to do and how to do it, but they’re both guys that I think can probably contribute to the team,” Saban said.
Anderson was a high-touted recruit out of Hampton, Georgia (Dutchtown). He is listed at 6-foot-4
and 230 pounds. The former 5-star recruit was ranked the No. 17 player nationally, the No. 1 weak-side defensive end, and No. 4 player in the Peach State.
Anderson made 22 sacks and 15 tackles for loss in his final high school season, as the Dutchtown defense allowed an average of 7.7 points per game.
This is an overhaul type of season for the Crimson Tide at linebacker where they lost loads of talent, but also signed arguably the best linebacker class in America. Anderson is at the top of the list, and understandably in the mix for early playing time.
