Alabama’s Quinnen Williams reels in 2 National Defensive Player of the Week honors
Quinnen Williams was an unstoppable force along the defensive line in No. 1 Alabama’s shutout of No. 3 LSU last Saturday in Baton Rouge.
For his monster effort, he was named the National Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday by voters for both the Bronko Nagurski Trophy and Chuck Bednarik Award.

Williams dominated with 10 total tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss — 2.5 of which were sacks — as the Crimson Tide crushed the Tigers for a 29-0 win. A measly 12 of LSU’s 196 total yards came on the ground, illustrating just how dominant the sophomore and his fellow defensive linemen were last weekend.
This marks the second time this season that Bednarik Award voters have recognized Williams as their National Defensive Player of the Week. He earned the honor following his outstanding performance against Missouri last month.
