FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — After back-to-back 52-0 victories in 2012 and 2013, the University of Alabama’s shutout streak against Arkansas came to an end Saturday.

Even though it took until the Razorbacks’ fourth possession inside the Alabama 30, the streak ended with 3:47 remaining in the second quarter on a 3-yard run by Jonathan Williams. However, the extra point was blocked.

Previously, Arkansas’ last points scored against Alabama was a19-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Wilson to Cobi Hamilton, with 8:54 remaining in the third quarter on Sept. 24, 2011 (a 38-14 Crimson Tide victory).

At the time, Occupy Wall Street was in its infancy, former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi was alive, and the iPhone 4s wasn’t out yet.

That’s a span of 1,113 days, and 170 minutes and 7 seconds of playing time.

Since then the Crimson Tide had scored 118 points and had an edge in yards of 1,177-669.

Incidentally, Arkansas hadn’t score a point against Alabama at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium since Sept. 25, 2010, on Zach Hocker’s 48-yard field goal with 5:04 remaining in the third quarter.

The Crimson Tide came back from being down 20-7 at that point to win 24-20. Since then it had scored 69 unanswered points in the stadium.
