The Indianapolis Colts selected former Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Richardson is a physical specimen, lightning fast at 6-4, 245 pounds and has a cannon for an arm. But many still believed he had a lot of work to do before being a true NFL starter, as he suffered some accuracy issues in college, among other critiques.

But initial reports out of Colts camp are a good sign for Richardson’s future in the NFL. According to Colts beat writer George Bremer, Indianapolis has been especially impressed with his pocket awareness and play-making ability.

Indianapolis has been desperate for a true starting quarterback ever since Andrew Luck surprisingly retired following the 2018 season. Carson Wentz, Phillip Rivers and Matt Ryan are a few QBs who have journeyed to Indy in effort to resolve the issues, to no avail.

Richardson totaled 2,549 passing yards, 17 touchdowns and 9 interceptions with the Gators last season. He added 654 rushing yards with 9 touchdowns on the ground.

We’ll see soon enough if Richardson is truly ready for starting duties in the NFL.
