A blowout loss against Duke sent Kentucky plummeting down the rankings in the second edition of the AP Top 25 this season.
Every other ranked SEC team, however, moved up at least one spot after the first week of the year.
Tennessee checked in as the highest-ranked SEC team at No. 5, with Auburn following at No. 9. The Wildcats dropped all the way to No. 10 after beginning the season ranked second, while Duke leapfrogged Kansas for the top spot.
No. 17 Mississippi State and No. 22 LSU rounded out the SEC representatives in the Top 25 this week. Three other teams from the league were among those squads who also received votes — Alabama (11), Florida (9) and Vanderbilt (4).
