Arizona is hosting Colorado in Tuscon on Saturday. And the Wildcats, 3-3 on the season, looked to catch Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes on their heels right out of the gate.

Problem is, it didn’t work.

The Wildcats appeared ready for a regular kickoff to start the game against the Buffs. As you can see, though, Wildcats kicker Tyler Loop pooched it to the right on a trick onside kick attempt. Unfortunately for him, the Buffs ended up getting on top of it, getting great field position right out of the gate:

To add insult to injury, the Buffs found the end zone moments later. Isaiah Augustave took the hand off from Shedeur Sanders and took it in from the 1, with a little assist from Sanders:

Give the Wildcats at least a little credit for trying to shake things up to start the game. That said, Brent Brennan and his team may want to go back to the drawing board before pulling something like this off again.

Meanwhile, Arizona is trying to shake off a little of a rough patch: after winning its first 2, it has lost 3 of its last 4 despite an upset win at Utah.

Colorado started the day at 4-2. A win on Saturday would eclipse its total from 2023 and position it further for a first bowl appearance since 2020.
