It’s quite interesting to see the Arkansas Razorbacks as a lead into ESPN’s pregame show College GameDay. However, the Hogs and Aggies will face off Saturday in the Southwest Classic on CBS Sports.

Both teams enter as ranked programs — the Aggies in the top 10 and the Hogs in the top 20. The winner could emerge as the biggest threat to Alabama in the division not named Ole Miss.

All eyes are on Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson and Texas A&M quarterback Zach Calzada, because both defenses will be ready to face these offenses. Mike Elko’s Aggies defense has a tall task slowing down the dual-threat Jefferson, who has played quite well in Kendall Briles’ offense, while Barry Odom’s Hogs’ defense will attempt to slow the Aggies attach led by Calzada.

Kirk Herbstreit’s pregame comments centered around Arkansas. He said on the College GameDay Saturday morning that the Hogs defense could be the X-factor.

“Arkansas’ defense could be the X-factor,” Herbstreit said.

Currently, Arkansas’ defense is ranked No. 5 in scoring defense allowing just 16 points per game. It’s also ranked 5th in total defense allowing just 265.7 yards per game.

The Aggies defense, meanwhile, is ranked second overall in the SEC in total defense, and the Aggies are tops in scoring defense, allowing just 5.7 points per game.
