Arkansas is expected to hire Louisville’s strength and conditioning coach, Ben Sowders, to the same role with the Razorbacks, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported on Monday.

Sowders would replace Jamil Walker, who was fired after the Missouri game.

Coach Sam Pittman said Sunday on a Liberty Bowl teleconference that he was in good position, and expects a formal announcement soon.

“We’re looking good in that position and we’ll be able to announce that position here shortly,” Pittman said.

Sowders before Louisville was the assistant director at Georgia for 4 seasons.

A native of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and graduate of Western Kentucky, Sowders before Georgia spent one season as director of strength and conditioning at McNeese State.

Earlier in his career, before 2017, he spent 2 years on the strength and conditioning staff at Georgia Tech and 2 years as the director of strength and conditioning at Gardner-Webb.

He also previously worked at Southern Miss, and had an internship at Alabama.
