The 2013 commitment class is filled with players headed to the NFL.
Many of them will be selected in the first two rounds.
Let’s take a look at the top 10 commitments from 2013 and how they have performed. This was based on 247 Sports top 10 prospects that year.
1. Robert Nkemdiche: It isn’t a surprise that Nkemcihe is at the top of the list. 247 Sports ranked him No. 1 overall prospect coming out in 2o13 and they were right. He has proven to be a dominant force up front and should be drafted early in the first round of the NFL draft despite recent off-the-field incidents.
2. Jaylon Smith: Smith has been solid. He has 283 tackles and 4.5 sacks during his three-year tenure at Notre Dame.
3. Vernon Hargreaves III: It’s hard to do, but Hargreaves has lived up to the hype and maybe even exceeded expectations. He has been dominant at Florida. Hargreaves should go in the first 10 picks of the NFL draft in April.
4. Laremy Tunsil: Ole Miss was a hot destination in 2013. Tunsil has proven himself as a dominant left tackle. The NFL is craving offensive linemen that can contribute right way. Tunsil is the best OL prospect in the draft.
5. Su’a Cravens: Cravens has thrived as a safety at Southern Cal. He has nine interceptions during his three-year stint with the Trojans. But Cravens has proven himself mostly through physicality, both rushing the quarterback and stopping the run. He also recorded 199 tackles and 10.5 sacks during his college career.
6. Reuben Foster: He hasn’t underachieved, but hasn’t shocked the world, either. He served as primarily a special teams and reserve player for Alabama during his first two years. But Foster started this season and began to produce at a high level. He finished the year with 60 tackles and a sack.
7. Eddie Vanderdoes: He suffered a season-ending knee injury while celebrating a teammate’s touchdown earlier this year. But even during his first two seasons at UCLA, Vanderdoes was good, but not great. He had 87 tackles and 2.5 sacks in his first two years.
8. Matthew Thomas: As the third-ranked linebacker in this class, Thomas has greatly underachieved. He had 29 tackles and one sack coming into the year. Thomas has faced various off-the-field issues at Florida State. He was declared ineligible for the 2015 season.
9. Kenny Bigelow: Another player who came up short. He didn’t have a breakout year in 2015 at Southern Cal with nine tackles and three sacks.
10. Montravius Adams: Adams has been productive at Auburn. But in an SEC dominated by great defensive linemen, he has been middle of the pack. He has 102 tackles and six sacks during his career with the Tigers.
