Auburn is back at Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday following a comfortable season-opening win over Mercer. This time, the Tigers welcome San José State to the Plains for the first time since 2015 in what is just the 3rd meeting all-time between the 2 programs.
On Tuesday, the team announced its honorary captain for the upcoming contest: defensive end Colby Wooden. The junior will serve alongside permanent captains Derek Hall, Owen Pappoe, and John Samuel Shenker.
Wooden was good for 3 tackles during the Tigers’ 42-16 win over the Bears. Last year, during the 2021 season, he recorded 52 tackles, including 6.5 stops for a loss and 3 sacks. He received an preseason All-SEC 2nd-team nod from both the league’s media and coaches during the summer.
Auburn kicks off against San José State at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
