Auburn is well represented at the 2016 Under Armour All-America game with several commitments and other targets.

So when the news that the Tigers hired defensive coordinator Kevin Steele away from LSU there were a lot of positive reactions at the event’s media day and luncheon.

Five-star linebacker Ben Davis is taking an official visit to Auburn later this month and is looking forward to catching up with Steele.

“I think it’s wonderful for them,” Davis said of the Auburn hire. “It’s a great hire. I think it’s definitely good for Auburn. I’m excited to take my official there.”

Four-star defensive back John Broussard is an Auburn commitment already and he said that Steele was the guy he hoped Auburn would get once the news came out that they were interested.

“For a while I liked LSU and he was one of the main reasons,” Broussard said. “He is going to get the job done and I’m looking forward to playing for him.”

Even the nation’s No. 1 prospect, five-star defensive lineman Rashan Gary, is excited enough about that Auburn hire that the Tigers may have increased their chances with the New Jersey prospect.

“He’s a cool guy,” Gary said. “I’ve known him for a while, I think he’s been recruiting me since my sophomore year.”

Gary took an official visit to Auburn during the Iron Bowl, but Steele will still have to make up some ground with the talented defensive tackle as Michigan remains the favorite.
