Bill Belichick makes decision on Mac Jones ahead of Week 6 vs. Las Vegas

Bill Belichick is electing to keep Mac Jones as the New England Patriots’ starting quarterback heading into the Week 6 contest at the Las Vegas Raiders.
“Yeah, we’re not making any changes,” Belichick said.

The Patriots (1-4) have been listless all season offensively under the Alabama product. Most recently, the Patriots were blanked 34-0 against the New Orleans Saints. The week before that, the Patriots were crushed 38-3 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Jones has completed 105 of his 168 passes for 1,008 yards, 5 touchdowns and 6 interceptions this season. 4 of Jones turnovers have been returned for touchdowns. The Patriots’ 10 turnovers are the 3rd most in the league.
“Everyone’s frustrated, of course we’re frustrated,” Jones said after the loss to the Saints via The AP. “At the end of the day, you have to turn that into action.”
The Patriots have yet to exceed 20 points in any game this season. The 34 straight drives without a touchdown is a record for the Patriots under Belichick.
For his pro career, Jones has passed for 7,806 yards, 41 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions. The Patriots picked Jones with the No. 15 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Jones reached the Pro Bowl during a rookie season in which he passed for 3,801 yards, 22 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
While at Alabama, Jones captured 2 national titles (2017, 2020) and was a consensus All-American (2020).
