Florida pulled off one of the biggest stunners of Week 6 with a 29-21 upset victory vs. visiting No. 9 Texas. The win snapped a 3-game losing streak for the Gators after losses against South Florida, LSU, and Miami.

It turns out quarterback DJ Lagway wasn’t 100 percent healthy. During his postgame press conference, Florida head coach Billy Napier explained that Lagway battled through a leg injury.

Although Lagway had a great game overall, he was spotted favoring his leg on multiple occasions throughout the night.

The 6-foot-3 Lagway amassed a season-best 289 yards along with 2 touchdown passes, both to freshman Dallas Wilson. Lagway connected with Wilson in the second quarter for a 13-yard touchdown and also towards the end of the third quarter on an amazing 55-yard score.

It was a strong bounce-back showing for Lagway after combining for 2 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in the 3-game losing streak. Lagway had more touchdown passes against Long Island but this was obviously his best game since it came against a ranked opponent.

The potential emergence of Wilson could provide Lagway with a viable threat to work with. We’ll see what the leg injury means for Lagway going forward but it was encouraging that he was able to gut it out.

Next up for Florida is a road matchup at No. 6 Texas A&M in Week 7.
