As Louisville’s season has continued into a tailspin, there has been plenty of debate about whether coach Bobby Petrino should be fired.

If a recent report is any indication, his players have made their feelings known.

Mark Ennis, a radio host covering Louisville sports, tweeted Wednesday that 20 Cardinals players have put in a request to obtain transfer paperwork. Ennis clarified that this doesn’t mean 20 players have officially filed the paperwork and that a Louisville spokesperson denied his report, which he credited to an unnamed source in the school’s athletic department.

The Cardinals are 2-7 this season and haven’t been competitive in ACC play. It marks an abrupt downtown for a program that had won either eight or nine games under Petrino every year since he took over in 2014.

Perhaps the biggest knock against Petrino, an offensve-minded coach, is that Louisville is 118th nationally in scoring offense with just 21.6 points per game.
