Braxton Myers, a 4-star safety from Coppell, Texas, made a verbal commitment to Ole Miss on Thursday, choosing the Rebels over several offers including Auburn, Florida State, Mississippi State and Clemson.

Myers, listed at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, originally committed to USC on May 16. He backed away from that commitment earlier this month and seemed to be focused on playing for Ole Miss.

He told Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports that the environment around the program was an appealing factor.

“Really the people itself,” Myers said. “It’s like a small town. Oxford is a small town, everyone knows each other and also the fans itself.”

The prospect evaluation on 247Sports speaks highly of Myers’ technique.

“[Myers] shows above average quickness and change of direction with a good backpedaling and ability to stay square with the receiver. Well coached in his technique with good eye placement in zone coverage along with using length in press man to knock receivers off their timing.”

He is the 12th commitment for the Rebels, who have moved into the top 30 in the team recruiting rankings.
