Elijah Moore was an early second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and has the potential to be a breakout star for the New York Jets this season. However, now that he’s moved on to the professional level, Ole Miss’ offense will be without one of its top players from a year ago.

But senior wide receiver Braylon Sanders isn’t worried. In fact, he thinks the Rebels’ receiving corps is going to be just fine in 2021.

“I feel like we can be the best in the country,” Sanders told reporters, including Michael Katz of the Daily Journal. “[We’re] going out there each and every day, putting in the work and putting in time in the film room and on the field.”

Ole Miss has produced some incredibly talented wide receivers in recent years — DK Metcalf, A.J. Brown and Moore, to name a few. So it’s possible that Sanders could be right and that the group could have a big year, especially considering junior quarterback Matt Corral is back to lead the Rebels’ offense.

Sanders could be a big reason why Ole Miss’ offense excels in 2021. He’s entering his fifth year with the Rebels after playing 33 games over the previous 4 seasons. Last year, he had 15 receptions for 376 yards and 4 touchdowns in 9 games.

“You saw the explosive plays [Sanders] made a year ago. He just didn’t have that many opportunities with injuries and other situations,” Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin recently said, per Katz. “We’re looking for him to have a really big year.”

Among the Rebels’ other returning receivers are senior Dontario Drummond (417 yards and 7 touchdowns last season) and junior Jonathan Mingo (379 yards and 3 touchdowns).

Ole Miss opens its 2021 season with a matchup against Louisville in Atlanta on Sept. 6 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
