LSU gained the services of Sevyn Banks during the offseason. The former Ohio State defensive back, a former 3rd-team All-American pick and a starter at CB for the Buckeyes, joined the Tigers in April but hasn’t played yet.
The expectation was that Banks would be available for the Tigers against Mississippi State, although Brian Kelly didn’t confirm or deny the possibility. That changed on Thursday, as Kelly revealed that the grad transfer would play against the Bulldogs.
Cornerback Sevyn Banks will play this weekend against Mississippi State, Brian Kelly said. His place in #LSU's rotation will depend on how he feels and how much rust he has. Notes Banks hasn't played in a while.

Banks played 8 times in 2021, seeing time in the Buckeyes’ first 2 contests. However, a hip injury toward the tail end of the season put him on the sidelines, leading him to miss its final 3 games. With that in mind, Kelly’s sure to be cautious as to how much of the field Banks sees after a long layoff.
Kickoff from Death Valley between LSU and Mississippi State is set for 6 p.m. ET on ESPN.
