Anthony Richardson was impressive for Florida during its season opener in Week 1 against Utah. The Gators quarterback and 3rd-year sophomore was 17-of-24 for 168 yards, but recorded 11 carries for 106 yards while running for 3 touchdowns in a 29-26 win.

Now, the Gators are set to welcome Kentucky to Gainesville in a Top 20 matchup, and Richardson will be out to top his opening game performance in what is a key early-season SEC East battle. As he could potentially make the decision to turn pro after 2022, he’ll look to enhance his status as one of the top QB prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft.

“Morgan Scalley, the Utes’ longtime defensive coordinator, told me…’I’ve never seen anybody quite like him’,” college football insider Bruce Feldman said on FOX’s “Big Noon Kickoff” on Saturday discussing Richardson’s speed despite his over 230-pound frame.

Feldman also said he spoke with an NFL scout who called Richardson an “absolute freak show” while comparing him to a “little bit faster” version of Cam Newton.

“The one thing scouts want to see is can he be consistently accurate,” added Feldman. “This will be a good test today against Kentucky.”
