Tennessee fans eager to know what is going on in Knoxville finally got some form of an answer Monday from Butch Jones.

During his weekly in-season Monday press conference, Tennessee coach Butch Jones was asked about his job status after losing another SEC game, this time against Kentucky. The latest loss dropped the Vols to 3-5 on the season and 0-5 in SEC play.

On his job status this week: “Nothing has changed at all.”

On the mass penalty issued to both teams early in Kentucky game: “It took two of our players off the field. At the same time, we need to have awareness and understanding of the situation.”

On his record regression this year, the first time in his Tennessee career that has happened: “Very very disappointed but not discouraged. I think we’ve had four games come down to the last play, things just don’t always go as planned.”

On how his family is dealing with the speculation around his job: “There have been a ton of people that have been supportive. This is a great community of people here in Knoxville… If I was a fan, I’d be upset too. I understand we need to win some football games.”

Status of John Kelly and Will Ignont: “They will be back at practice this week, we will see how this week of preparation goes, that’s on them.”

Has AD John Currie given him any assurances about his status in 2018? “All we do is talk about day by day and week to week. That’s been the same his entire time here.”
