Cam Rising’s season is officially over.
The Utah quarterback suffered a season-ending knee injury in the loss to Arizona State over the weekend. Rising was playing in his first game since Week 2 due to a hand injury, but will now be out for a significant amount of time.
The program made the announcement on Monday evening:
“Upon further evaluation by our medical staff, Cameron Rising’s injury has unfortunately been deemed season-ending. During his time at Utah, Cam has been both a great player and leader for our program, and he will obviously be missed. Any future developments concerning his collegiate eligibility will be addressed at a later date.”
It’s crushing news for Rising, who missed the entire 2023 season with a knee injury. This was his 7th season of collegiate eligibility. He began his career at Texas but has been with Utah’s program since the 2019 season.
It’s possible Rising will pursue additional collegiate eligibility. At Big 12 Media Days, Rising said pursuing an 8th season of college football was not his intention. However, it’s possible this injury will change that stance.
Utah freshman Isaac Wilson is expected to resume his role as Utah’s starting quarterback moving forward.
