No. 7 Indiana knocked off No. 3 Oregon 30-20 on Saturday in Eugene in large part because of the big boys up front on defense. Indiana amassed 6 sacks and 8 tackles for loss in the upset victory.
CBS Sports analyst Aaron Taylor is so impressed that he’s proclaiming that Indiana’s front-7 is even more dominant than Alabama and Georgia‘s units, 2 programs that are renowned for their physicality.
“That front-7 is elite, boys. They whipped up front an Oregon offensive line that I thought was easily in the top 3 in the country. They dominated them up front…Indiana’s front-7 is way better than both Alabama’s and Georgia’s right now,” Taylor said. “That means they are built to go deep into the playoffs. They are for real.”
It was a collective effort from Indiana’s defensive line to contain Oregon. Aiden Fisher had 13 tackles with 1.5 sacks. Rolijah Hardy tallied 13 tackles with a sack and 2 tackles for loss. Kellan Wyatt recorded 1.5 sacks and Isaiah Jones had a sack with 2 tackles for loss.
Indiana’s defense has been superb this season, with the 20 points allowed vs. Oregon a season-worst. The Hoosiers have allowed 14 or less points on 4 occasions this season.
Next up for Indiana is a home matchup vs. Michigan State on Oct. 18 (3:30 p.m. ET/Peacock).
