Midway through the fourth quarter of Friday night’s game against East Carolina, the Cincinnati Bearcats held a commanding 42-10 lead.

The No. 7 Bearcats are trying for a spot in the College Football Playoff, though, so they need to look good in all their wins, too.

That led to this fake punt with just under 8 minutes remaining in the game. Naturally, it worked in a big way:

The final score ended up being 55-17 in favor of Cincinnati, and let’s just say ECU coach Mike Houston wasn’t pleased. That led to this lengthy postgame exchange between Houston and Cincinnati coach Luke Fickell:

Cincinnati is now 7-0 and is hoping for some teams ranked ahead of it in the AP Poll to lose over the coming weeks.

There’s still a long road for the Bearcats if they want to make the Playoff, but Houston clearly doesn’t think that road should involve fake punts when you’re up 32 in the fourth quarter.
