Although there was a major shakeup with the Southeastern Conference teams ranked in the polls, the University of Alabama saw no change in its status on Sunday.
Following its 52-12 victory over Southern Miss, Alabama remained second in the Amway Coaches’ Poll, and third in the Associated Press Poll.
With this week’s opponent, Florida, failing to be in either top 25 after it needed triple overtime to dispatch Kentucky at home, 36-30, Alabama still has yet to face a ranked opponent.
However, the schedule continues to look tougher with each passing week as upcoming foes move up the rankings. Alabama will No. 5 Auburn, No. 7 Texas A&M, No. 8/10 (coaches’/AP) LSU, and No. 12/14 Ole Miss.
Also receiving votes were Mississippi State, Florida, and West Virginia received votes in both polls and Arkansas in the coaches’ poll.
Oregon moved up to No. 3 in the coaches’ poll, and barley trails Alabama, 1,408 votes to 1,399. The gap widened in the AP, with Oregon at 1,415 points and Alabama at 1,334
