Charlotte reportedly hires new head coach to replace Will Healy

Charlotte has tapped Michigan associate head coach Biff Poggi to replace Will Healy and run the 49ers program according to Bruce Feldman.

Poggi, 62, was hired to be part of Michigan’s support staff last year after a stint as the head coach at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore.

A successful businessman, Poggi used money his made from his investment firm to build St. Frances into a national powerhouse similar to that of IMG Academy. Michigan running back and Heisman contender Blake Corum is among the players Poggi coached at St. Frances.

Poggi was also a staffer at Michigan in 2016.

Healy was fired after a three-plus seasons with Charlotte. He was 1-7 this year and finished with an overall record of 15-24.
