Even after Steve Spurrier stepped down from coaching South Carolina, he and his wife Jerri kept a house in Columbia to be close to his son Scott, who was an analyst with the Gamecocks.

But when Scott took a job with South Florida and coach Charlie Strong, the house soon went on the market. Recently, the house was sold, The State reported, for less than Spurrier bought it for in 2005 when he became the coach of the Gamecocks. It was originally listed in February.

The house is in the Woodcreek Farms subdivision in Northeast Richland and is 6,386 square feet. Spurrier, who stepped down midway through the 2015 season, bought the home for $1.25 million in 2005, and sold it for $950,000. He was asking $1.35 million for the five-bedroom, six-bath home.

“Just happy to sell the house, that’s all,” Spurrier told The State. “Sometimes you hold those things two or three years and it can be expensive just hanging onto houses. I was just happy to sell it.”

Spurrier currently works as an ambassador for Florida, his alma mater, and he and his wife are reportedly building a home in Gainesville, Fla..
