On his first day on the job, George Kliavkoff expressed his belief that the College Football Playoff should be expanded.

If you aren’t familiar with the name, Kliavkoff is the new Pac-12 Conference commissioner. The conference hired him away from MGM Resorts on Thursday to replace former league commish, Larry Scott.

Immediately after being named the new Pac-12 commissioner, Kliavkoff held a press conference and issued his support for expansion to the College Football Playoff and said the announcement could come as soon as June.

Now, to be clear, that doesn’t mean that the College Football Playoff will be immediately be expanding this summer but the plans to do so could be set into place this offseason, according to the new Pac-12 commissioner

This also isn’t likely a change in position for the Pac-12, but it’s interesting to hear a league commissioner weigh in on a topic immediately after being announced. Clearly, part of his pitch to run the league involved his support for Playoff expansion.
