Four teams ranked in both the Associated Press Top 25 and the Amway Coaches Poll lost on Saturday (Michigan State, USC, South Carolina and Florida). Two teams were able to remain in both polls while the other two have been sent packing.

USC entered its game at Stanford with the No. 17 ranking, but the 3-17 loss has resulted in the Trojans falling to No. 22 in the AP poll and No. 21 in the Coaches Poll.

Michigan State was hit harder by its loss to unranked Arizona State. The Spartans were No. 15 in the AP and No. 13 in the Coaches Poll before stumbling to the Sun Devils. ASU enters both polls as a result of knocking off a ranked team. For some strange reason, the coaches decided to keep MSU ranked higher (No. 24) than Arizona State (No. 25).

It was a brief stay in the rankings for South Carolina and Florida. The Gamecocks were unranked in the preseason poll, but held the No. 24 spot in the Week 2 poll after defeating Coastal Carolina 49-15. Will Muschamp’s squad is no longer ranked after being thumped at home 41-17 by No. 3 Georgia. The Gators were similarly unranked in the preseason poll, but grabbed the No. 25 spot after a Week 1 win over Charleston Southern. UF is out of the rankings after falling 16-21 at home to unranked Kentucky.

The Clemson-Texas A&M game produced some interesting poll results. The Tigers did not cover the spread – which ranged from 12-13 points – in their 28-26 win, but did not drop from No. 2 despite Georgia notching the larger margin of victory on the road. In the loss, it appears the Aggies impressed some voters as they are now second in the “others receiving votes” list of unranked teams.
