It started in 2017 at Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium and since as become one of the best traditions in college football.
At the end of the first quarter of Iowa home football games, everyone in the stadium — fans, coaches, and players alike — turns to the University of Iowa’s Stead Family Children’s Hospital across the street and waves to patients watching the game from the 12-story facility.
On Saturday, with the No. 3 Hawkeyes playing host to No. 4 Penn State in a game that has potential national championship implications, the scene was as electric as it’s ever been, as can be seen in the video below.

Will the tradition serve as a source of motivation for Iowa?
Time will tell, but the Hawkeyes need it, as they rails the Nittany Lions 17-3 early in the 2nd quarter.
