College GameDay has revealed its celebrity guest picker for Saturday’s show at Cal. ESPN is turning to a Bear legend.

Marshawn Lynch has been announced as Saturday’s guest picker. He will pick the biggest games of Week 6 early from Berkeley, joining Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Nick Saban, Lee Corso and Kick Herbstreit at the GameDay desk.

Lynch, 38, played at Cal from 2004 to 2006. He finished his Bears career by being named Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-American. After rushing for 628 yards off the bench as a freshman, Lynch rushed for 1,246 yards as a sophomore starter and 1,356 in his junior season. He finished with 3,230 rushing yards, an average of 6.6 yards per carry, and 29 rushing TDs. Lynch also had 68 catches for 600 yards and 6 scores as a receiver.

The Buffalo Bills selected Lynch No. 12 overall in the 2007 NFL Draft. He was named to the PFWA’s All-Rookie Team, the first of many honors in his decorated pro career.

Lynch remained with the Bills into the 2010 season before he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks. Lynch was selected for the Pro Bowl 5 times, in 2008 with the Bills and 2011-14 as a Seahawk.

In 2012, Lynch was named first-team All-Pro. He led the NFL in rushing touchdowns during the 2013 and ’14 seasons. Lynch picked up a ring for the 2013 season, helping Seattle win Super Bowl XLVIII. Lynch was recognized as part of the NFL’s 2010s All-Decade Team.

After spending 2010-15 in Seattle, Lynch retired. An Oakland native, Lynch came out of retirement to play for the Oakland Raiders in 2017. In the final week of the 2019 season, Lynch returned to the Seahawks for their final regular-season contest and the playoff run that followed.

Lynch, who earned the nickname “Beast Mode,” finished his professional career playing in 149 regular-season games, logging 2,453 carries for 10,413 yards and 85 touchdowns. He has also recorded 287 catches for 2,214 yards and 9 scores. Lynch was part of 6 playoffs with Seattle, logging 211 carries for 970 yards and 12 TDs.

Lynch’s alma mater is off to a 3-1 start in 2024, including a road win at Auburn. Cal will face its toughest challenge yet with No. 8 Miami visiting Berkeley. The ACC clash is set for a late kickoff of 10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
