Conner Weigman’s status for Texas A&M vs. Bowling Green revealed, per report
By Sydney Hunte
Published:
Connor Weigman will not start Texas A&M’s home game against Bowling Green on Saturday, according to TexAgs’ Billy Liucci. It marks the second straight game the Aggies quarterback will miss thanks to a shoulder injury.
In Weigman’s place once more will be Marcel Reed. The redshirt freshman made his first career start for the Aggies in Week 3, recording 178 yards and 2 touchdowns on 11-of-17 passing while rushing for 83 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries in a 33-20 win at Florida.
Reed made 3 appearances for the Aggies as a true freshman in 2023. In the Texas Bowl, he was 20-of-33 for 361 yards — throwing an interception vs. 0 touchdowns — while rushing for a score.
Weigman went in for tests on Wednesday, with no major damage to his shoulder other than the sprain he suffered against Notre Dame. He threw for 125 yards and 2 TDs against McNeese State before giving way to Reed with the outcome well in hand. Now, it looks like Weigman will get at least another week to get fully healthy in time for a Week 5 Southwest Classic contest against Arkansas at AT&T Stadium.
Texas A&M-Bowling Green is set for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff and is a streaming-only game on SEC Network+.
