Alabama and Notre Dame recently finalized a deal for a home-and-home series that will be one of the biggest in recent memory.

The Crimson Tide will travel to South Bend to play the Fighting Irish in 2028 and will host them in Tuscaloosa in 2029.

On Monday, AL.com reported the contract details of the agreement, revealing that each school will get 5,000 away tickets and the home team will have the TV broadcast rights:

They will exchange $1 million payments from the host to the visitor, according to the contract obtained through an open records request. Alabama has received as much as $6 million for non-conference games played at neutral sites in recent seasons.

Why the two schools will swap $1 million is a bit confusing, as it would make just as much sense for no money to change hands over the two-year period.

However, the important thing is that the series is actually happening, and should be a lot of fun, though it won’t take place for another decade.
