Could the College Football Playoff be postponed for the Big Ten and Pac-12? An insider weighs in

Is the window closed for the Big Ten and Pac-12? Well, as chatter continues to build, and tone changes in the Midwest and on the West Coast, the two Power 5 conferences not yet scheduled to play this season could still make it in the College Football Playoff.
But, of course, that is up for debate and discussion, and as always, further information.
College Football Playoff insider Heather Dinich of ESPN joined The Paul Finebaum Show on Wednesday and discussed that very possibility.
“I think that is an excellent question, and it would depend on the timing of their return,” Dinich said. “Remember, we heard Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott say that he talked to Big Ten Commissioner Kevin Warren, and they would like their seasons to align, if possible. That’s a major question as well, can those two leagues walk together in terms of their return.”
Playing the Rose Bowl is obviously the crown jewel of those conferences, outside of the Playoff, and that would then raise another question, if their schedules, in fact, do align. Would the Playoff be postponed to include them?
The Playoff is scheduled for top four teams to play the semifinals on Friday, January 1, in the Rose Bowl Game and the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The national championship game will be played Monday, January 11, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. The committee on Dec. 20 will also announce the matchups for the Goodyear Cotton Bowl, PlayStation Fiesta Bowl and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
–@CFBHeather on if the Big Ten and Pac-12 return at the same time later this fall, “It certainly raises the question: Would the College Football Playoff postpone a week or two to include those two?”
