The South Carolina Gamecocks parted ways with coach Will Muschamp on Sunday night.

The Gamecocks’ in-state rival, Clemson, has been one of the best teams in the country the past few years, while South Carolina has failed to gain much positive momentum.

On Monday night, during his weekly radio show, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said his heart goes out to the Muschamp family:

South Carolina has been linked to a number of potential replacements for Muschamp, but Clemson DC Brent Venables and OC Tony Elliott haven’t been among them. Still, they were asked about the opening on Monday and both said they were focused on this week’s Florida State matchup:

For now, the Gamecocks will continue to search for a new coach. We’ll see if the search takes them to their in-state rival’s coordinators.
