Even the biggest critics of Dan Mullen have to admit that he’s had some success with quarterbacks. So when the former Florida and Mississippi State head coach starting breaking down the success of Alabama quarterback Bryce Young against Ole Miss during a segment on ESPN’s College Football Final, it’s a good listen.

“You’re used to seeing them get the ball to receivers and making explosive plays down the field,” Mullen said. “It’s Bryce Young having to carry them this year.”

Much of the segment focuses on Young’s ability to keep his eyes focused down the field even when he feels pressure and is forced to leave the pocket.

Young, the 2021 Heisman Trophy winner, might not go back-to-back, but his value to Alabama has increased this season. He threw three touchdown passes Saturday in a 30-24 comeback win over Ole Miss.
