Considering Mississippi State junior WR Malik Dear tore his ACL only a few short months ago, it would seem at first glance that he’d miss the 2017 season.
However, coach Dan Mullen says that might not be the case. In fact, he said on Wednesday, there’s a slim chance the talented receiver could play as soon as Week 3.
According to Will Sammon of The Clarion-Ledger, Mullen would only rule out Dear for the Bulldogs’ first two games of the season:

Obviously, even if Dear is able to make it back by Week 7, that would be a huge surprise and a big boost for the Bulldogs’ offense.
As a sophomore last year, Dear caught 23 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns, but was expected to have a bigger role this fall.
If he is able to come back before the end of the season, it’ll be a big boost for the Mississippi State offense.
