The Indianapolis Colts made headlines when they drafted former Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson with the 4th overall pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. Thus far, Richardson has started in 3 games for the Colts and has impressed plenty of people, including ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky.

“I remember him coming out, people were saying ‘he’s not accurate, he’s not accurate,'” Orlovsky said. “Watch him make these throws, guys.”

Orlovsky went on to say that some of the special plays that Richardson makes resemble that of Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen, citing him as a rare talent in the same category as those two.

“He’s going to the right place on a consistent basis with the football, that’s the storyline,” Orvolsky said. “The two things I really want to see from Richardson going forward: how quickly can he get the ball out and how much he can grow and develop in getting from 2-to-3-to-4 as defenses start to take away 1 and 2?”

Richardson has helped lead the Colts to a 2-2 record while throwing for 479 yards, 3 TDs and 1 interception on 41-for-72 passing (56.9%). He joined Carolina’s Bryce Young and Houston’s CJ Stroud as the only QBs to start Week 1 from the draft class of 2024. Richardson did suffer a concussion in the Colts’ Week 2 win over Houston, causing him to miss the team’s Week 3 matchup with Baltimore.
