Danny Kanell and Brady Quinn are dialed in and ready for LSU at Alabama on CBS. The SEC West showdown is 1 of the top games on the college football slate this weekend.
The CBS analysts each shared their thoughts and predictions leading up to the crucial contest.
Quinn is a major believer in LSU senior quarterback Jayden Daniels, whom he’s predicting will be a Heisman finalist.
“He’s having a Heisman Trophy season,” Quinn said. “..Jayden Daniels will be in New York when it’s all said and done.”
Quinn shares some of his keys to the game.
“Alabama can get after opposing quarterbacks. I think they’re going to limit a lot of the big plays we’ve been seen from this LSU offense so far. The 1 problem is Alabama’s biggest weakness is they can’t protect Jalen Milroe. They’ve given up the most sacks of any team in the SEC this year,” Quinn said. But LSU can’t really rush the passer either. It’s a bit concerning.”
Quinn is going with LSU in a what he thinks will be a low-scoring affair.
“I think this is going to be a tight game. A lower scoring game,” Quinn said. “I’m going to take the points though and LSU in this case. I also like the under.”
Meanwhile, Kanell expects a stronger effort out of LSU’s defense than in recent big games.
“I think their defense has been getting ripped apart to shreds. They haven’t been great,” Kanell said. “But the teams that have been tearing them apart–Ole Miss, Missouri, Florida State–they’ve got better weapons and better quarterback play than what you’ve seen out of Alabama.”
On the other end, Kanell believes Daniels will be a major challenge for Alabama’s defense and this could be a Heisman-like moment for him.
“Alabama’s defense has been great but outside of Quinn Ewers who beat them, I don’t know if they’ve seen a quarterback since him that has been able to exploit some of their weaknesses,” Kanell said. “…I think Jayden Daniels is able to win it if he’s able to knock them off in Tuscaloosa.”
Kanell also expects a close game and is picking LSU.
“This game comes down to a field goal late,” Kanell said. “…I’m going to go ahead and take LSU.”
