Danny Kanell has a new top 12 after college football’s Week 12 slate. Kanell’s No. 1 and No. 2 teams didn’t change from last week, but a significant upset caused a little movement in his rankings.
Oregon and Indiana remained at the top of Kanell’s list. Oregon barely escaped Wisconsin in Madison, eventually winning 16-13. Indiana was idle ahead of its Week 13 game against Ohio State, a matchup with both Big Ten Championship Game and College Football Playoff implications.
BYU, though, fell from the unbeaten ranks after dropping a 17-13 game at home against Kansas, falling out of Kanell’s top 12 altogether. In fact, here are his full rankings:
Things are starting to get clearer in the Week 12 #DKtop12
1. Oregon
2. Indiana
3. Ohio State
4. Penn State
5. Texas
6. SMU
7. Miami
8. Notre Dame
9. Ole Miss
10. Bama
11. Georgia
12. Tulane— Danny Kanell (@dannykanell) November 17, 2024
The Cougars’ loss saw the Buckeyes, Texas, and SMU all move up a spot, while Tennessee tumbled out of the rankings following a 31-17 loss to Georgia. The Bulldogs, meanwhile, were outside of Kanell’s top 12 after Week 11 but worked their way back in after beating the Vols.
One team outside the Power 4 to keep an eye on? Tulane. Jon Sumrall’s team shut out Navy 35-10 and moved in to No. 12 in Kanell’s rankings. The Green Wave could make a jump in the College Football Playoff top 25 as well.
All told, Kanell’s top four teams are all in the Big Ten, while four other teams in the top 12 are from the SEC: No. 5 Texas, No. 9 Ole Miss, No. 10 Alabama, and No. 11 Georgia.
