One of the top running backs in the country in the Class of 2027 is slowly but surely whittling down his offer list.
The back in question is Baylor School star David Gabriel Georges, who hails from Chattanooga, Tennessee. The 6-foot, 205-pound tailback has received offers from some of the top programs in the country, including his home-state school Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio State, Texas, Oregon and Miami, to name a few.
And already, according to Rivals and On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Georges is seeing some schools separate themselves from the pack. Namely Tennessee, Georgia and Ohio State.
Ohio State is always going to be a contender for a strong running back, but considering this is an SEC site we’ll focus on the 2 SEC programs mentioned by Fawcett’s reporting. Of course, as mentioned earlier, Texas is also well within the race for Georges’ services.
It’s not hard to see why college football programs are getting in line for this guy. Rated as the No. 3 overall running back prospect in the country, Georges is wicked fast and deceptively shifty. He’s considered to be the No. 34 overall prospect in the country according to 247Sports, and he’s the No. 1 player out of the Volunteer State.
Let’s start with the Vols, then. UT received an unofficial visit from Georges on May 31, a few months before the Vols lost out on 5-star RB Savion Hiter to Michigan. Tennessee is a power rushing team that has already put 2 running backs in the NFL under coach Josh Heupel.
Of course, Georgia has produced its share of NFL talent at the position as well. Kenny McIntosh, Zamir White, James Cook and Trevor Etienne have been drafted across the past 4 seasons alone. The Bulldogs received a visit from Georges on April 5 of this year.
Georgia and Tennessee have a combined 3 players committed already in the Class of 2027 – none of whom are running backs. The 2027 cycle is just getting started, so it’ll be interesting to watch the recruiting battles that take place across the coming year.
