Deion Sanders making QB change for Colorado’s Week 3 game, per report

The Colorado Buffaloes entered this season with several major question marks, and quarterback was the biggest of them all following the departure of 2-year starter Shedeur Sanders.

Colorado had a couple of solid options to choose from in former Liberty Flames star Kaidon Salter and former top recruit from the 2025 cycle in true freshman Julian Lewis, but pretty much nobody expected third-string sophomore Ryan Staub to have any real shot at the starting gig.

As improbable as it may have seemed a few weeks ago, though, it appears as if Staub is actually going to get his shot to lead the Buffaloes’ offense, with ESPN insider Pete Thamel posting on X that Sanders is reportedly rolling with the sophomore this weekend against the Houston Cougars.

This comes after Staub entered this past Saturday’s game against the Delaware Fighting Blue Hens and dominated, completing 7 of his 10 passes for 157 yards, and tossing 2 touchdowns on the day.

If Staub does end up being the guy who takes the reins this weekend, then it will be a rather shocking turn of events for a team that entered the new campaign with a ton of hype surrounding their star transfer and true freshman pairing under center.

It will be very interesting to see how Sanders continues to navigate this brewing QB controversy out in Boulder as the season rolls along.
