Georgia assistant Dell McGee honors James Cook following passing of RB’s father
Georgia is taking on Cincinnati in the Peach Bowl on New Year’s Day with heavy hearts as running back James Cook did not make the trip to Atlanta with his Bulldog team.
Cook isn’t hurt and he has not opted out, the running back is missing the game because his father, also named James, recently died. The elder James Cook was just 46.
Cook returned to his South Florida home to be with his family, which includes his older brother, Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook.
Following the news of their father’s passing, the Vikings issued the following statement:
“The entire Vikings organization is thinking of Dalvin and his family following the passing of Dalvin’s father.”
While James may not have made the trip to Atlanta to play in the Peach Bowl, Georgia running backs coach Dell McGee found a great way to honor the Cook family as the Bulldog assistant is wearing James Cook’s uniform on the sideline of the game.
Former Georgia QB and SEC Network analyst DJ Shockley shared an image of McGee honoring Cook during the game.
