Former LSU defensive back Derek Stingley suffered a hamstring injury during practice Wednesday for the Houston Texans.

And according to reports, Stingley will miss some time. The hamstring injury is expected to keep Stingley off the field for weeks and he’s a potential candidate to be placed on IR. This would mean Stingley, at minimum, would not be able to return until Week 8 against the Carolina Panthers.

Obviously, rough news for the former Tiger.

As expected, the start of Stingley’s NFL career has been a good one. The former Tiger totaled 5 pass deflections and an interception in Year 1 with the Texans and was off to a strong start in Year 2 until Wednesday’s setback.

Stingley was a freshman during LSU’s 2019 national championship season, but still made a massive impact by hauling in 6 interceptions with 15 passes defended. He suffered a few injuries that only allowed him to see the field for 10 games past his freshman year.

The Texans need him back on the field sooner rather than later.
